TD's Story

TD has been diagnosed with Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries with a large VSD, a Pulmonary Stenosis, a sub Pulmonary Stenosis and an abnormal tricuspid valve. In short, his ventricles are backwards. His arteries taking blood to the lungs and the rest of the body are swapped. He has a large hole in between his ventricles and has a very narrow pulmonary artery.

He will be having surgery at C.S. Mott’s very soon. His procedure is called a Senning/Rastelli and they will reroute his blood so it enters the correct ventricle first. They will also replace his pulmonary artery with a conduit, switch the arteries so they are connected to the correct spots and close the hole.
